employed part-time (40%) teaching assistant at the Department of Literature – a 100% salary: min € 23 468.58 – max € 39 716.10 (currently paid at 160.84%)

Profile of the candidate

• Master’s degree in Language and Literature, in Historical Linguistics and Literature in Comparative Modern Literature, in Translation, in Interpreting, in Multilingual Communication, each with optional Spanish or a degree recognized as equivalent
• Good familiarity with the methods of literary research, as illustrated by data from a master’s thesis in the literature
• Excellent oral and written knowledge (near native) of the Spanish
• Good communication and writing skills in Spanish
• Experience in the supervision of students
• Professional Activities and / or have professional experience that contribute to the quality of practice-related education

Contents of the function

• Provide support in the practical teaching of Spanish Literature
• Guidance papers, research tasks and master theses
• Cooperate with the internal and external services of the Department of Literature ((support) organization of conferences and public events, representation at Sid-Ins, etc.)

Employment: 1 October 2014 at the earliest

Candidates must meet the language requirements as specified in Article 91novies of the Decree of 4 April 2003 on the restructuring of higher education in Flanders. The administrative and teaching language at Ghent University is Dutch but also can apply. Non-Dutch

In accordance with the decree, the applicant shall charge a teaching assignment, the language in which he teaches to control adequately. One course This means that the candidate must have acquired at CEFR level (European Framework of Reference for Languages) C1 that language. The candidate, charged with a teaching assignment, which teaches no courses in Dutch, must master the Dutch language at CEFR level B2. That condition must be met within three years of the appointment or at the time of appointment.
