Associate Professor Spanish

Lamar University (Beaumont TX, Estados Unidos). Fecha límite: 1 de septiembre de 2015.Lamar University seeks an experienced professional who can provide leadership and strategic direction for the Online Masters of Arts in Teaching Spanish Degree.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Ideal candidates will be well qualified and have experience working with or directing a Masters Program, preferably in Spanish pedagogy. Teaching duties include: teaching Spanish Pedagogy, Second language acquisition or Spanish applied linguistics. Other courses may be assigned depending on additional area(s) of expertise.

Responsibilities will include:

-Developing, implementing, refining, assessing and monitoring the Masters Program.
-Working closely with the University of Salamanca, with program leaders and various academic and administrative offices to ensure that the administration of the education abroad experience functions safely, efficiently and effectively.
-Developing a plan for recruitment and retention.
-Teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in Spanish language and Pedagogy.
-Directing the online Master of Arts in Teaching Spanish.
-Producing quality research.
-Participating in additional departmental, college, and university service.

Additional responsibilities include:

-Participation in the Lamar University assessment program.
-Ongoing curriculum planning and review.
-Professional/instructional development.
-Participation in university and departmental committees.
-Student advisement, recruitment, and retention activities.
-And other related duties, as assigned.

Minimum qualifications include:
-A Ph.D. in Spanish.
-Experience working with or in directing an Online Spanish Master’s degree program.
-Strong organizational and project-management skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities.
-Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with a broad range of constituents including faculty, staff, students, and consortium partners to achieve institutional goals.
