The Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures and the Spanish Program at the University of South Carolina (://www.cas.sc.edu/dllc/) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the area of Latino/a Studies, Border Studies, or Hispanic Sociolinguistics (especially Bilingualism or Languages in Contact). A scholarly interest in Portuguese is a plus. We expect this hire to contribute to our new Ph.D. program to bridge traditional Hispanic/Spanish Studies and new fields of inquiry on Latin America and/or the Spanish-speaking diaspora in the United States. We expect this hire to have an active role in the community as well. Teaching responsibilities include two courses per semester, with assignments in a broad range of undergraduate and graduate courses in Spanish. The candidate must have native or near-native command of both Spanish and English, experience of teaching at the college level, and the Ph.D. in hand by August of 2015.
