Fecha límite: 1 de marzo de 2025

Call for manuscripts for a special issue of the Journal of Latino/Latin American Studies (JOLLAS):

Latines in the U.S. South: Disrupting Historical Erasure and Master Narratives

Guest Editors: Drs. Oscar Jimenez-Castellanos & Sharina Maíllo Pozo, University of Georgia

This special issue aims to critically examine and challenge dominant historical narratives that have overlooked Latine communities in the U.S. South. We invite manuscripts from diverse disciplines—including history, anthropology, political science, education, sociology, and more—focusing on Latine colonial experiences.

Submission Details:

  • Structured abstracts (max 500 words) due: March 1, 2025 (to be sent to Dr. Oscar Jimenez-Castellanos at oscar.jimenezcastellanos@uga.edu)
  • Notification of invitation for full manuscripts: March 15, 2025
  • Full manuscripts due: August 31, 2025 (blind peer review process)
  • Expected publication: Before the end of 2026 in JOLLAS

We particularly encourage submissions focusing on under-researched timeframes, specific Latine communities (e.g., Salvadorians), and interdisciplinary perspectives.

Please share this call widely! For questions, contact Dr. Oscar Jimenez-Castellanos at oscar.jimenezcastellanos@uga.edu or unojollas@unomaha.edu.
