OB DESCRIPTION

As a lecturer in Hispanic and Hispanic-American Literature and Culture, you will be part of the Department of Modern Languages and Cultures and will provide Bachelor-level education in the Romance Languages and Cultures study programme, in particular lectures on Modern Hispanic and Hispanic-American Literature and Culture. Furthermore, you may be expected to participate in the Department’s language proficiency education. You will also assist students with writing theses/projects, carry out support activities and actively contribute to the improvement and further development of the curriculum of the Hispanic and Hispanic-American Literature and Culture study programme.

REQUIREMENTS

  • You should hold a doctoral degree (PhD) in Hispanic Culture and/or Literature.
  • You have demonstrable experience with providing university education in the field of Hispanic culture and/or literature at different levels and with supervising Bachelor’s and Master’s theses.
  • You have experience with teaching to non-native speakers at an academic level.
  • You are capable and willing to make an active contribution to the improvement and further development of the curriculum of the Hispanic and Hispanic-American Literature and Culture study programme.
  • You are capable and willing to carry out educational support tasks at the Department of Modern Languages and Cultures.
  • You hold a Dutch university teaching qualification (BKO), or are willing to obtain one within an agreed time.
  • You have native or near-native skills in the Spanish language and preferably also in the Dutch language (written and spoken).
  • You are proficient in English at Cambridge Certificate level C2 or are willing to develop this proficiency within one year.
  • You possess the following key competences: conceptual thinking, social awareness, presenting, result orientation and initiative.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Fixed-term contract: 1 year.

  • Employment: 12 – 20 hours per week.
  • A maximum gross monthly salary of € 4.978 based on a 38-hour working week (salary scale 11).
  • The exact salary depends on the candidate’s qualifications and amount of relevant professional experience.
  • In addition to the salary: an 8% holiday allowance and an 8.3% end-of-year bonus.
  • Duration of the contract: 1 year.
  • The intended start date is 1 August 2020.
