“Modern Interpretations for a History of Latin America and the Caribbean (1945-2018). From the Beginnings of the Cold War to the Globalization of Disenchantment”

The editorial publishing house is Palgrave Mcmillan

Below you will find a brief description of the proposal:

This research provides an overview of the history of Latin America and the Caribbean from the beginning of the Cold War to the present day. It covers “historical”, political, social and economic issues from an interrelated perspective. We also work on recent arguments such as ecology, new criminalities, unemployment, the “new” cities, the relationship between the countries of the Caribbean and Latin America; the relationship between the countries of the non-dependent Caribbean with the metropolises and the other countries of the Caribbean and Latin America, among others. The book will offer a comprehensive analytical description of the historical and current relations between the different countries of Latin America and the Caribbean, including those territories that are not independent.

Palgrave McMillan is interesting in the book proposal and after I presented the required information, they asked me for a table of contents with the names of potential contributors. Some of you are known to me, others by their academic production and others by recommendation. This joint work is intended to cover the largest number of specialists from various countries and topics. As mentioned in the attached proposal, it is considered indispensable that the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean be fully represented, including those territories that are still dependent.

Initially, I would like to receive answers from those who might be interested in collaborating and also a tentative title of the article. This is necessary to create the table of contents that the publisher requires and to check that the arguments are not repeated. The work is inclusive, there are many dimensions to analyze the period 1945-2018 and your contribution will be more than welcome.

The submission date of the volumes (depending on the number of participants) will be January 2020. Therefore the article must be sent to me during the month of September 2019, for peer review (double-blind) and subsequent compilation. The articles can have a length between 10,000 to 15,000 words with their respective bibliography and as for the citation style, once the table of contents is finished, will be given.

Issues that do not appear in the attached proposal and that are relevant to the period may be considered.
