In memoriam: Klaus D. Vervuert (Lindlar, 1945-Frankfurt, 2017)

Dear authors and friends:

We regret to inform you that Dr.h.c. Klaus D. Vervuert passed away on last May 9th. In these moments of pain, our team wishes to offer their condolences to his family for this irreparable loss.

We also wish to express our commitment to preserve the legacy of a career as a publisher and bookdealer that went on for nearly half a century. That was his desire, and we will homage him by keeping the high standards of his intellectual work –a model for the diffusion of Spanish and Latin American Cultures on both sides of the Atlantic.

Klaus D. Vervuert founded Editorial Vervuert in Frankfurt in 1975, and started a branch in Madrid in 1996. In 2004, the bookstore “Iberoamericana” opened its doors in the heart of Madrid. Recently, in April 2017, Klaus D. Vervuert received the decoration Orden Civil de Alfonso X el Sabio. We are glad that we had the opportunity to learn from his experience and knowledge. For all of us, Klaus was a mentor and friend, and it is with great sorrow that we received the news of his departure.
